The PPL is modelled on a five over a side match league where multiple teams will play off to claim the ultimate champion’s trophy – The Sardar Jodh Singh Trophy, named after the founder of JIS Group.
“The event has ushered in the humanitarian side of the game which is a pioneer effort to contribute towards the destitute and impoverished of Kolkata through cricket,” said Taranjit Singh, MD, JIS Group.

Anindita Tamta, Secretary, Parivar, said, “Since 2013, Parivar has initiated a cricketing event where celebrities from Kolkata take part to play to raise funds and awareness about the activities of Parivar. The matches are held at Eden, India’s cricketing haven. From this year (2017) onwards we have re-launched this event previously named Batting for the Underprivileged as the Parivar Premiere League (PPL).”

Four teams who had played against each other in the knock out match were – JIS Group, Parivar, I Eeva and Muller. The finalist had played against the celebrity team consisting of Shankar Chakraborty, Bhaskar Banerjee, Gourav, Suman Banerjee, Kaushik Ray Chakraborty, Indrasish, Rashid Khan and Gourav Sharma and among others.
Parivar Premiere League (PPL) is a charity match, organised for the fifth time, to support the underprivileged children of the society. The fund will be used to support 1036 kids, who fall under the jurisdiction of nine police stations, namely – Taltala, Cossipore, Sinthi, Noatala, Topsia, Gariahat, West Post, South Post and North Post.
