The countries which are outside the purview of such facility are Pakistan, Iran, Sri Lanka and China.
"We have decided to extend visa-on-arrival to tourists from 180 nations. It will take 5-6 months to put the infrastructure in place. We hope to implement this from the next tourist session beginning October," planning minister Rajiv Shukla said.
"The facility will provide a major boost to the country's tourism sector," said Shukla calling the move as historic.
A separate website would facilitate the process and an electronic visa will be available within three days.
Shukla said visa-on-arrival can be availed in all 26 major domestic airports from where international flights operate
