Maldives wins Best Beach Destination at World Travel Awards

Male, July 21 (NITN): Maldives has won the award for the 'Best Beach Destination' at the World Travel Awards, Africa and Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2015.
The award was received by the Managing Director of MMPRC, Abdulla Ziyath at the ceremony held on Monday, at the Kempinski Seychelles Resort, Baie Lazare in the Seychelles.
Maldives won the award for “Best Beach Destination” for being the most top destination in this category. Maldives competed with other world class destinations such as Seychelles and Mauritius in this category.
World Travel Awards are well-known as the highest and most exclusive award ceremony in the Travel and Tourism Industry.
It is also renowned as the “Oscars of the Travel Industry.” Today, the World Travel Award brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire.
While this year marks the 22nd anniversary of the World Travel Awards, Maldives was honored the opportunity to host the 1st Indian Ocean World Travel Awards in Maldives in 2013.
For a world class destination that welcomed 1.2 million tourists in a year in 2014, winning this award will enhance the image of the destination as a high profile luxury beach destination.
