According to tourism officials, China’s 2014 tourism revenue grew 14.7 percent to reach 3.38 trillion yuan (approx. 551 billion U.S. dollars).
Revenue from inbound tourism hit 56.9 billion U.S. dollars, up 10.2 percent from the previous year, according to Du Jiang, Deputy Director of the China National Tourism Administration.
Du attributed the tourism growth to factors such as improved international airline capacity and favorable tourism policies such as the new 72-hour visa-free allowances in 11 Chinese cities.
