The awards were given away at the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) in Kolkata on Friday.
The winner and runner-up awards were won by Mrinmoy Ghosh and Rishika Bhotkia, respectively. Summer Internship Projects at Globsyn Business School allow the students to gain valuable experiential learning by putting theory into practice while working for some of the biggest national and multinational brands.
The award ceremony was preceded by the final round of evaluation of projects presented by 10 participants, including the winner and the runner-up, who formed a shortlist. In all, more than 140 students of Globsyn Business School’s Management Programmes for the 2014-2016 batch had submitted projects which dealt with topics like consumer behavior, recruitment processes, HR policies, sales and distribution, and new business plans.
The winner and the runner-up were selected and awarded by an eminent panel of judges who were Dr. Deboprasonno Nandy - Director (Research) - Institute of Cost Accountants of India, Swaroop Ghosh – Deputy General Manager (Marketing) - Samsung India, Suchitra Guha - Head HR - Tata Steel, B. Hari - Founder - Ontrack Systems & President - TiE. The shortlisted participants have completed their projects with companies like Reliance Trends, Tata Steel, TNS India, Vodafone India, GCMMF (Amul), Globsyn Technologies, Dentsu Webchutney and Orange Tree Global.
Some of the other companies for which Globsyn Business School students have completed projects include Novartis India, IMRB International, Mosarbaer, Emami, Bank of Baroda, ACC, ITC, Indian Oil Corporation, Peerless Mutual Fund, Indusind Bank and Taj Bengal.
Talking about GBS’s initiative of Globsyn Award for Excellence in SIP Subir Sen, Dean, Globsyn Business School said, “We at Globsyn Business School value the importance of experiential learning in our academic pedagogy, and place a lot importance in the students’ 12-week Summer Internship Project. In order to recognize and reward meritorious students for their efforts and commitment in SIP, GBS has instituted the ‘Globsyn Award for Excellence in SIP’ for the winner and runner up to be evaluated by a panel of external judges.”
