Kolkata/IBNS: On a November afternoon in Kolkata wit, wisdom, wonderful ideas and words were the hallmarks of Dr. Shashi Tharoor’s book launch session organised by Prabha Khaitan Foundation, a Kolkata-based non-profit trust, in association with Ladies Study Group (LSG) and Ehsaas women of Kolkata in the City of Joy.
It was a bright and enthusiastic gathering at ITC Royal Bengal as the Foundation celebrated Dr. Tharoor’s latest literary creation entitled ‘The Less You Preach, the More You Learn: Aphorisms for Our Age’ under the auspices of its prize initiative called Kitaab. Eminent patrons of the Foundation - Shree Cement Limited supported the event as part of their CSR initiative.
Dr. Tharoor’s book, a compendium of succinct and perceptive insights that offers pearls of wisdom for modern life co-authored with Joseph Zacharias, was launched by Guest of Honour – Goutam Ghose, an award-winning film director and actor.
Others who joined the book unveiling ceremony were Abhilasha Sethia, Founder LSG Book Club, and other governing body members of LSG , Poonam Kaur – notable Indian actor and politician, Bashabi Fraser - notable educationist from Scotland, Anindita Chatterjee - Executive Trustee of Prabha Khaitan Foundation, Sangeeta Datta - Ehsaas woman of London and Shefali Rawat Agarwal- Ehsaas woman of Kolkata

Dr. Tharoor’s prowess of pen and his multi-dimensional experiences define the book on aphorisms co-written with Joseph Zacharias. It is a thought-provoking book written in the form of concise, witty statements on practically every aspect of modern life. This book is a compendium of priceless pearls of wise and memorable statements on God, faith, human nature, mysteries of life, family, relationships, secrets of success and happiness, and several others general truths and aspects of life presented in an easy-to-understand manner.
The book launch was followed by a riveting conversation on Dr. Tharoor’s latest book on aphorisms. In his signature charismatic elegance, Dr. Tharoor engaged and inspired the audience by sharing nuggets of wisdom on modern life and experiences.

He defined philosophical insights with simple statements when Kaur questioned some of the aphorisms in the book coined either by him or Zacharias. Stories behind the aphorism and their essences were much enjoyed by the audience who gathered to have a cherishing rendezvous with a man who commands a colossal presence in the world of politics and literature.
Amelia Lalremdiki Sailo, Ehsaas woman of Aizawl, moderated the event and carried the proceedings of the event with great elegance.
Abhilasha Sethia, Founder LSG Book Club delivered the formal welcome speech and introduced Goutam Ghose, Dr. Shashi Tharoor, and conversationalist Poonam Kaur.
