Dress should not come one notch higher than performance on stage : Bickram Ghosh
Kolkata, May 17 (NITN) Percussionist Bickram Ghosh says he does not believe in overdressing as on any given day his performance will precede his fashion statement.

"I don't know If I can clarify. What I mean is while my dress will be in sync with my profile as a musician, as a classical performer rooted in Indian traditions, my performance will be one notch above the robes I wear. How I take along the audience and how I tune up with the co-performer on stage should not be overshadowed with the scarf I am wearing," Bickram tells IBNS at the launch of Debonair Fashion,  the house of costume jewellery, designer sarees & ethnic wear.

"For me wardrobe definitely plays a role but as I said I detest overdressing. Loud sartorial taste is certainly not my cup of tea. While performing on stage I am invariably attired in kurta-pyjama, here or in abroad, while in parties you will see me in casuals - denim and shirts and jacket," Bickram says.

'Being simple matters to me," Bickram who has done a global project involving 50 world class musicians including Pete Lockett, says.

"After working with Arindam Sil in his previous films Abarto, Ebar Shabor,  Har Har Bomkesh, I am now very enthused about Eagler Chokh, which again is endowed with my own genre of  music - vocals and instrumentation mix," Bickram, who has also scored the music for Hindi 'Band of Maharajas, says.

Actor Jaya Seal Ghosh says as wife she always tries to give work space to Bickram and gives suggestions for every creative initiative by the tabla craftsman cum performer.

Jaya, who is doing a Hindi film Pakhi and an Assamese film, says she likes Bickram's aesthetic sense.

Several Bengali actors also graced the inauguration of the outlet.
